The Blog Revolution

Brent's been saying that Blog is dead, and I think that's a pile of crap. Sure, blogging is usually a bunch of whining and complaining, but it's like the Ticked-Off column of the Orlando Sentinel, it's crappy but you must read it just to make sure that hating Shaq is still cool. Brent Elliott killed his blog, and that came as a horrible blow to the blog community, because Brent's blog was new and exciting, always with something worth talking about in it. Where other blogs would relate the days events, Brent's would infuse new life into a stale old medium. Blogging isn't like keeping a diary, YOU HAVE AN AUDIENCE. Brent realized this and kept his words lighthearted, controversial, and filled with Zing, Zip, and countless other descriptionless adjectives. There was always the chance he was going to say "cooze" or "cunt" and that kept people coming back. Without Brent plugging my webpage I could never have gotten anyone to come visit here and read this. So, I mourn Brent's blog, and maybe someday it will come back to life. Here's hoping.

Disclaimer

I know I've been guilty of underblogging and writing my share of boring blogs, but isn't the picture at the top of the page enough to bring you running back every few hours? Good. I'm going to go try to finish my site redesign and post it soon, because I want to post it before I start working. Trust me, it'll rule. You'll be back, I promise.

RIP Joel Shaughnessy 8/2000-1/2001

Well, I don't imagine I'll die, and I hope that I won't be less fun, but it looks a lot like I'll be ununemployed in a week or so, depending on how fast things fall into place with the dudes at Nextel. I got this email from the future bossman:
<<<
thanks Joel

Also to let you know - your interview went very well and we should be in
touch soon.

I've got a phone interview tomorrow and then who knows where I'll be.

The job itself

I'm not entirely sure what I'll be doing, but I'll have a car and a cell phone or two at my disposal and I'll be driving around to cell-towers makaing sure things are working, redesigning stuff, fixing things, responding to emergencies, I'll be a hero to al the businessmenand drugdealers of the world, allowing them to continue to keep in touch with their clients and drive poorly without interruption or poor reception. It'll be 50% office and 50% on-site, so I'm thinking it'll be a combination of Pizza Delivery (the best job on earth) and Office work (which Isn't great in my experience). Hopefully it'll all be great.

How it affects the future

I haven't been working on Flash much at all recently, because the focus of my attention was a Flash version of a resume, but there's not lot of point in that if I'm already employed. Instead, I've shifted focus to playing Diablo2 all day. It makes me wonder whyI squandered these past 5 months by doing all sorts of learning Flash and Java and reading, when I could've been playing video games the whole time. Not really. I've enjoyed the time off, and I think that now I'm going back to work at my own pace, so I feel really good about it actually. If I had been actively looking for a job I just would've gotten myself all in a tizzy feeling the cold hard sting of rejection, but since I kicked back and didn't care, everything really fell into place for me. When I was baptized as a baby, the minister told my mom that he felt that I would grow up to do something great. I'm on my way.... Actually, he probably said that to all the parents, wouldn't you? Ah well, see you around sluggers. I'll let you know if anything hott happens soon.

PEMDAS

Please excuse my poor grammar in the previous blog. I was wasted.

3dB or not 3dB...

I had my job interview today. Everything went pretty well, so far as talking to people and being assertive and nice and all that, but they were quizzing me on decible gain/loss and I totally forgot about 3dB gain doubling the signal power and all that junk from back at UCF. I stumbled through conversions and stuff like that, but I basically let them know (with my fumbling) that I'm not too up on my signal-processing. It's true, I'm not, so I guess that's fair. We'll see how it goes, I'm not too broken up over it, but the job looked like it would be fun and I'd get to learn a lot with some hands on, and maybe even get a cell-phone out of the deal!

Chicken Numerology

I've been spending more money lately, probably due to my good feelings about the interview. I guess since the job sounded cool and I had an interview, I felt like I was almost employed, which would make spending money alright, but I'm not, so it isn't. Kev is still hurting for a job, and Erica is jobless but in school, so it's justified, which is what makes the student life so nice, it's a great excuse for inactivity.

Devil Dos

Dave brought Diablo2 over here last night so I could play it, then he took it away from me. I miss it already.

I go.
