It's good to be back
Back in DC and things have been really nice since we've been back. ACtually, just tonight has been nice the rest hasn't been too memorable. We got back last night and Kevin was gracious enough to pick us up. He had a band over while we were gone and somebody puked on the floor so I was envisioning the worst, but luckily there was nothing much to see, everything seemed clean enough. The futon has some weird mucous-y substance on it, but who knows when that happened. We've had plenty of people/couples sleep on it and unfortunately anyone could have made it. There were also a bunch of bugs, dead and not dead, around so I sprayed down the house with a bunch of Raid which really stunk up the place but hopefully it will solve the world's problems.
Death to Bugz
I used to dislke hurting bugs. When I was in middle school my friends would put firecrackers in ant-hills and I would object, but then I played an Amiga game called "It came from the Desert" which was about giant bugs attacking a town. Having ants as enemies in a video game somehow made it alright to hurt their bretheren. Don't get me wrong I don't relish the thought of hurting things, but I dislike bugs being in my home. It's a predjudice that I can't explain.
The reality
So, I sprayed down the house for bugs then cleaned up the house so we could watch the series finales of Voyager and Deep Space 9 (in re-run form) so it was a super eventful night. We toasted Worf and the Klingon Empire with Gossamer Bay Red "Blood" wine and ate Gagh and had vegan corn chowder and a gay old time and it was a lot of fun with Dave and Sara and Adam and Jen. kevin was out all night with Glen and he got a bunch of phone calls while he was gone. It's like people didn't realize we were watching Star Trek and didn't have time to be bothered with calls for Kevin.. Geez. The finale of Voyager was alright, they tried to give the fans what they wanted, giving Seven and Chakotay a romantic relationship and getting the crew home to the alpha quadrant, but it seemed sortof uneventful in the end. I thought it was because I was drunk, but my friend mike agreed and I assume he was sober. The finale of DS9 was drastic in that a lot of characters were killed off or left the station, but they did a sappy "Remember these great scenes" Flashback thing which was semi-cheesy but alright nonetheless. DS9 takes a while to get into, but it's worth the effort once you get to know the characters. Believe that. We had Klingon Rokeg Blood Pie too, and Romulane "Schaeffer" Ale. Bet you didn't.
