And so closes another chapter in American History...

Well, after 10 months of pure pleasure, I'm going back to work. The position I've landed isn't as close to home as I'd like, and isn't as Electrical Engineering related as I'd like, but it's a 3-month contract and it pays well, so I can just walk away at the end and not worry about being stuck in a life-sentence. It's the AutoCAD job, and I'll be moving people throughout the Northeast USA so I doubt there'll be people bribing me for prime cube-space, but a boy can dream can't he? The $13/hr research assistant job looked like it might be fun, but it was a year-long endeavour and it looked like if I bailed 3-months-in the guy would be screwed, and I hate screwing nice guys. So, I took this AutoCAD one in Sprint's 'real-estate' division, and we'll see how it goes. I guess this is growing up.

What you can do to plan for your future:

No need to worry actually, because I'll still be blogging away. I'm still doing revisions to VirtualJoel and the amount of work I'm putting in should greatly enhance the experience, hopefully making him more and more playable. Of course, it's you, the people, who help guide what Virtual Joel should be doig, so don't be shy, let him know, folks, let him know! That means click on the text to send Virtual Joel an email giving explicit directions on how to better himself. Emailing Virtual Joel is a lot like praying, or any other means of contacting a Deity, in that you'll never know directly if it had an impact, but you can be sure he heard you. Right?

The floodgates open

I had an interview today and I have another on WEdnesday. Today's was for a position using AutoCAD to help coordinate a move from one office to another. Basically I'd be arranging cubicles in a 3D Computer Automated Drafting environment. It would be semi-technical, semi-secretarial, and probably a whole lot of office politics with stuff like "Dude, Make sure my cubes not near the boss's office!". Even so, It'd be a 3-month contract and me like-y that, because that means there's always a light at the end of the tunnel.

The other possibilities

I have another interview on Wednesday for a temp job but with an govt. engineering division where I'd be some dude's Sr. Secretary, helping with research and assumably extra-marital affairs. OK, probably not that, but I think if I took that one it's be nice because it'd be another important sounding engineer job and it'd be real close here in the city. Plus I'd be temping and making about $13 an hour, which is great for temping and I need money like nicaraugua needs spell-check. The Other job I mentioned before is going to be out in Tyson's Corner Virginia, and while it'd be nice to work in a place so personable (Like Pryor's Place or Mr. Roger's Neighborhood or Jimmy's Chicken Shack, or McDonalds) it's a long way away and I'd be riding the Metro for about 2 hours of my day. I actually do think it could be fun in that I like the metro because it's clean and everyone is sad or crazy and I also think it would give me time to read or maybe I'd atually get a laptop and work on Virtual Joel and stuff while on the metro. Of course, most likely I'd just hate my life, but I'd hate it while having cash, and while in many instances money cannot purchase happiness, the lack of money seems to be exchangeable for a bit of streses and feelings of badness.

Virtually fun to visit!

I'm revamping virtual Joel and adding some features which make him seem more-human. Things like blinking and simulated movement can really spice up the site making it all the more interesting. I'm also thinking of adding some other features but we'll get to those later. For now, if anyone has any ideas I'd welcome them. Anything that you think would make it more fun, interesting, or rockin', just send your suggestions. Later!
