life of discontinuities
They've discontinued the Morningstar Meatless Hot-pocket rip-offs, and this makes me sad. Sure, I haven't bought one in about 6 months, but I ate a whole lot of them over the summer when I worked at Sprint. It was like a dream come true when they came out, I remember days walking past the frozen food aisle, looking wistfully at the hot-pockets, wondering if I'd ever be able to eat a mess of cheese and meat swaddled in a baked pastry crust again, and then came you; you wonderful, wonderful, food-product. I would have been content if Hot-pockets came out with just a Broccolli and Cheese pocket, but it never happened, and then Morningstar filled a gap that most vegetarians probably didn't even know existed. It's not really the taste, but the convenience of a quick hot meal you can eat by hand. So now, I have a freezer full of the fake cheeseburger kind (the only kind they had at any of the supermarkets I went to) and I hesitate to even eat them, knowing each one I consume brings me one step closer to never again.
A while back, they discontinued the "Zesty" variety of the Vlasic sandwich stackers pickles (the ones that come stacked in a jar, each 'pickle' having about the same diameter as a burger pattie. I bought a jar of tehm and concluded they will not be missed that much.
Video Games ate my Weblog
Ever since I started getting back to my roots and playing more video games, I've been negligent in my writing, mostly because "Today I played video games" can get old real quick, and "Today I vanquished 57 ogre mages WITHOUT a backup save!" probably doesn't impress anyone reading THIS.
move-mania
Everyone around me is talking about where they're going to move in the Summer, and that includes Erica and I. We don't really know where we're going to go, but I probably won't be any closer to work. We've gotta get slightly farther from Erica's school, because circumstances have pushed up demand (and therefore rent) in this area, but if we get any further from the heart of the city we'll end up driving into the city every weekend to see friends, which means we'd either have to spend the night at friends' homes every weekend (eh, I prefer me own bed) or one of us would stay sober, and nobody likes that idea. Alternatively, we could move near my work, stay home every weekend watching star-trek, and become the people who grew up, but that'll never happen. Young until I die-ie-ie-ie. So anyhow, we'll try to look closer to the city, close to the metro, roomy enough for all of my crap, and cheap enough that I won't feel fleeced at the first of each month. I also want water that doesn't get cold when you shower, DSL, a wall of televisions, a stocked liquor cabinet, and a slide leading from my bed to my chair at my office. Maybe if I give these things to Virtual Joel my own life will start to emulate my virtual one?
